I believe there is no greater trust than that of a person choosing to walk into an attorney's office, speak to a total stranger about the most intimate or difficult situations, and to retain that person to champion their cause.  At that point in time, it is the duty of the attorney to counsel and advise, first in an effort to reduce costs through some settlement of the issues, and secondly to prepare diligently for the trial if not settled.  At trial, I believe it becomes the duty of the attorney to frame the facts within the parameters of the likely court decision, and to passionately assert the clients case.

I have served passionately as an advocate for my clients for 29 years.  Of course, I recognize that I have made mistakes along the way, but I have done the best that I can, the best that I know how.  I have practiced in law and in life with the Shakepearean quote from Hamlet being one of my guides: 'This above all, to thine ownself be true, and it must follow, as the night the day, thou canst not then be false to any man.'  This quote is printed on the back of my business cards.

As a judge, I will continue to 'be true,' and I will enjoy the departure from the adversarial nature of the practice of law.  I will utilize my years of experience in dealing with clients and adversaries in the analysis of the facts before the Court and I pledge that I will decide each case fairly and promptly, and in accordance with the laws of our State.
